Nida, on 14-15th of September, 2018, is to host the first Nida Forum European Migraine

As concern for the future of Europe is growing, the voices of not only politicians, but intellectuals as well are required. The Nida Forum could become a place of intense intellectual dialogue regarding the most urgent European issues. The event is planned as a two-day public and open study weekend featuring 8-10 presentations. Writers, philosophers, historians, political scientists from various European countries, naturally, including Lithuania, are invited to make the presentations. This year’s topic for the Nida Forum is formulated as European Migraine, it is intended to explore the issues of European identity, bearing in mind all the recent challenges that have befallen Europe (Brexit, the stream of refugees, rising nationalism in numerous countries, and the like). We believe that an equally important part of the forum should be the free conversation among the presenters and the audience during discussions and the possibility for informal talks.

The main aim of the Forum is to encourage connections between the intellectuals of various European countries. On the other hand, it could also serve as an incentive for the Lithuanian citizens to be more interested in international politics. This Nida Forum is the first, but we expect it to become an annual event, an important compliment to the Thomas Mann Festival in the summer.
